WELCOME TO YOUR GREATER FORT WORTH DENTAL HYGIENISTS' ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER

Letter from President:

I am honored to be the president of GFWDHA this year. I look forward to serving all my fellow hygienists. I am so proud of how all of you have stepped up to face all the unexpected challenges of COVID 19.

Your Board of Directors has been planning the upcoming year. We have a great slate of speakers scheduled with informative and interesting topics. Most of the monthly meetings are held at Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. There are three four -hour upcoming continuing education classes scheduled, to be held at Texas Star in Euless.

Each meeting that you attend your name will be placed in a drawing for free ADHA membership to be awarded in May.

ADHA and TDHA has been working tirelessly to support ALL RDH’s. Please support your profession and each other by continuing your membership or by becoming a new member.

There are many ways to become active, starting right here at GFW. There are several BOD and committee positions available, including delegates for the TDHA meeting in February. I hope that you will consider serving in one of these positions.

We are better together.

Legislative Update

HB 2056 Teledentistry Bill Passes

SB 1648 Medicaid

Legislative process:

https://texaspolitics.utexas.edu/archive/html/leg/features/0800_01/billtolaw.html

The Legislature was very busy this year. We did not get anesthesia out of calendars, however we were able to get two bills passed. Please go onto the link above and read about our new bills. One is our Teledentistry Bill and the other has to do with Medicaid and special care patients

Local Anesthesia administration has just passed in North Carolina... WE are super excited for them and waiting to fight for our bill again next session. There are 4 states left in the USA awaiting their right to administer local anesthesia. Hopefully with everyone's help and participation, we can be next to turn over a new leaf!!!!
