STRONG in 8th Grade Memories

This year the 8th graders made a wall of everything Mrs. Crocker asked them to hang up. Each time Mrs. Crocker asked one of us to hang up a paper, we always put it on the wall in the back of the room. Then we started adding pictures of our own. After we added pictures of our own, we decided to cut out letters, so then they would say 8TH GRADE WALL. We wanted to do something that we would remember for our 8th grade year. A few things on the wall include Nora's drawing of a hedgehog, Clara, Nora, Ryann, and Mrs. Crocker's funny photos, the pledges, and this year's STEAM day themes.

*Special thanks to WCA 8th grader Ryann Cooper for writing this week's Strong Story!

Hunger Doesn't

Take a Vacation

Classes are finishing. Students are graduating. Vacations are planned. But hunger doesn't stop! Please join Weddington Church in collecting breakfast and lunch items for the Union County Shelter's Food Pantry. The Shelter serves over 80 hungry people three meals a day, every day. They also have two drive-thru food pickups each month for those in need.

Donations will be collected on Sunday, May 15, and Sunday, May 22, in Helms Hall and the Family Life Center bins. The most needed items include cereal, grits, oatmeal, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, soup, and individual bags of chips.

Interested in preparing and serving an entire meal? Looking for additional ways to serve? Contact Weddington Church Mission Leader Stephanie Green.

4th Grade NC Notebook Interview

4th Grade NC Notebooks6.jpg
NC Notebook.jpg

My name is Nora Benjamin, and I'm reporting on the NC Notebook. My interview was with Isabella Commodore from 4th grade. When asked about the luncheon, she said she enjoyed it. She had a great time and got many gifts. Isabella said that she was happy to do the notebook on NC, and the number one reason was that she loves Social Studies.

Isabella said the most fun thing about the NC Notebook was that she learned many new things, but writing and extra credit were the best. Isabella says that every student got to do their notebook, but their answers differed. She felt that this project was important because history is important to remember so she can teach her knowledge to others about NC.

Isabella is fond of big projects, and the NC notebook took about three to four weeks. Isabella said she was so excited to show her family the notebook she worked hard to create. The notebook was not hard, but also was not easy to do. Isabella said that she had a lot of faith and trust.

"Yes, I think God enjoyed us doing this project...I think he wanted us to learn more about our home." - Isabella Commodore

*Special thanks to WCA 8th grader Nora Benjamin for writing this Hawk Talk story!

Thank you so much!
