Message from our Interim Principal
Hello Tolt Bear Community!
We have had a ton of fun these last few weeks of school. It is a blast witnessing the growth our students have been making. Here are just a couple of items for your consideration in preparing for the end of the school year.
We strive to provide the best possible educational access and environment for our students. We are looking for stakeholder feedback which is important for us to continue to be a learning organization. Below is a link and QR code for our Educational Effectiveness Survey (EES). I encourage all stakeholders to take about 5 to 10 minutes to provide us with feedback through this survey.
A few months ago, Riverview School District was the victim of a cyber-attack. One of the systems affected was Destiny, which holds the inventory for all of our library books. We do not have a way to track down a large number of books that had been checked out during the attack and not turned back in since. We would appreciate your help in locating any of these missing books and returning them to the school. We have an incentive for our students that for every library book found and turned in, they earn a raffle ticket for pizza and root beer floats for next Thursday. We have had quite a few books found, but encourage you to look under the bed, in your trunk, even in the closet, for any library books, send them in with your student, and they will receive a raffle ticket for pizza and root beer floats.
It has been my pleasure to serve this school as Interim Principal. We still have one more exciting week of yearbook signing, 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony, and classroom celebrations of learning. I hope everyone has a great summer break!
Warmest regards,
Scott Petersen, Interim Principal

Dear Families,
For us to continue to improve as a school and district, it is important for us to understand stakeholder perceptions about the job we are doing in providing a quality education for all our children. We are seeking information through a 10-15 minute survey that is available now through Monday, June 19th. Students in grades 4-12 will also take the survey at school.
We value your input as we strive to continue to improve. Thank you for your feedback.
To access the survey, visit:
EES Family Survey Link: Riverview SD
- Choose your language preference on the opening page of the survey.
- Select your child’s school. If you have children in multiple schools, complete one survey per child.
- Complete the survey and click submit.

We are excited and proud to show off our Bear right in the middle of our gym where PE takes place along with many after school sporting events! Go Bears!

End of Year Library Information
WE NEED YOUR HELP IN THE LIBRARY!
This year, due to the cyber-attack, we have a large portion of library books that are unaccounted for and the records for who checked them out were erased. Please double check under the bed, in the trunk of the car, and in the closet for any books that need to be returned. These books would not show up on your Destiny account and you would not have received a fine for them. Your support in double checking that these books are not in your possession would be really appreciated.
Thank you,
Carrie Holeman

End of and Next Year Reminders!
End of year check:
- If your student received a change of clothes from the health room this year I’d love to receive those items back! Make sure clothing is washed and returned before end of year. Also, if you’d like to donate clean, gently used clothing (specifically pants and t-shirts) that would be fantastic!
-
Smoke Ready Week, June 12-16! Read WA DOH’s news release regarding wildfire smoke in WA this summer and ways to help prepare for unhealthy air. You can stay updated on wildfires, air quality, the forecast, and health information on the WA Smoke Blog. For more information on how to protect yourself from wildfire smoke, visit the DOH’s Smoke from Fires webpage.
- Summer is the perfect time to make an appointment with your healthcare provider. If your student has a life-threatening health condition, takes medication at school, has asthma, etc. you will be receiving paperwork in the mail over the summer to update. Make sure all paperwork is completed and turned in by Thursday, August 31, 2023. According to Washington State Law, students with life-threatening conditions are to have medication and/or treatment orders and an Emergency Care Plan in place prior to the first day of school.
- The Tdap booster is a required 7th grade immunization. Your student MAY NOT attend the first day of school without obtaining the Tdap booster prior to 7th grade. For more information on changes to Washington State’s Immunization rules, please visit this link.
- You are welcome to start turning in medications and paperwork during August 21-September 1 as soon as our office re-opens on Monday, August 21. Nurse Rachel will have a table at Tolt’s Back-to-Business day on Monday, August 28, and you are welcome to turn in items then and check if anything is missing!
New 6th grade families:
- It is so helpful for me to have the most up-to-date health information for your student as they are new to me and Tolt. Please take a moment to complete the annual health form so I have the most current information for your student!
Check out the Tolt School Nurse website to see everything you need to do to prepare for next school year and make sure your student is ready for the first day of school!
