Hiking and Beach Adventure at Bolsa Chica

Join us for another exciting day of hiking and beach fun at Bolsa Chica! On this occasion, we're adding more adventure to our itinerary with a longer hike and updated parking instructions. Prepare to immerse yourself in the vibrant bird-filled wetlands of the Bolsa Chica nature preserve, followed by a leisurely afternoon at the state beach. Due to its popularity, we recommend signing up promptly to secure your spot.

The Bolsa Chica Nature Preserve is a protected wetland and ecological reserve covering approximately 1,300 acres (526 hectares) of land. It is situated between Huntington Beach and the city of Seal Beach. The preserve is recognized for its significance in supporting a wide variety of plant and animal species, including many endangered and migratory birds. Then, adjacent to the Bolsa Chica Nature Preserve lies Bolsa Chica State Beach. It is a public beach and stretches across approximately three miles (4.8 kilometers) of coastline. Bolsa Chica State Beach is renowned for its sandy shores, rolling dunes, and picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean.

After our invigorating 3-mile walk, we will make our way across the street to the picturesque Bolsa Chica State Beach. There, we can unwind by wading in the refreshing waters of the Pacific Ocean and enjoy our lunch together. Hearts For Sight (HFS) will graciously provide lunch for all attendees, so we kindly request that you RSVP in advance.

HFS is arranging a bus service to transport you to and from Bolsa Chica. Further details regarding transportation will be shared with you soon. Alternatively, you are more than welcome to meet us directly in Huntington Beach.

At HFS, our mission is to ensure that each visually impaired person (VIP) who RSVPs receives the assistance of a sighted guide. As a result, we are always in need of dedicated sighted guides and volunteers for our hiking trips. No prior experience is required, only a passion for nature and a desire to lend a helping hand. We offer training to all volunteers, or you can click on the link below for a brief volunteer / guide guideline.
