March 2022 Newsletter
President's Note:

With Ukrainians facing tremendous peril amid the worst outbreak of war in Europe in generations, many of us are asking what we can do to help. The Washington Post has listed several ways to offer your support, including via Voices of Children; the Kyiv Independent; Razom for Ukraine; Care; Save the Children; or directly to the National Bank of Ukraine's Armed Forces Fund.

Here at the Council, we will do our best to provide the public with high-quality insight into the ongoing crisis—connecting our audience with speakers whose expertise may serve as a resource amid the conflict. And we will do so immediately, starting with this evening's free, virtual conversation with former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine William B. Taylor.

Thank you for your continued support and trust.

2022 Academic WorldQuest Competition
Today is the last day for high school students to register their teams to exhibit their knowledge of world affairs!

Academic WorldQuest is a nationwide competition to test high school students’ knowledge of current international politics, geography, global economics, history, and world cultures. Its purpose is to prepare the next generation of leaders, scholars, and decision-makers to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Each year, over 50 World Affairs Councils across the country hold local Academic WorldQuest competitions for high school students in their communities. The local competition in Miami-Dade County will take place in early April 2022, with the winning team then invited on an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, DC later that month to represent their high school and compete in the Carlos and Malú Alvarez Academic WorldQuest National Competition at the United States Peace Institute!
