Wow! What a day! Thousands of people from our region and the country visited Shenandoah and enjoyed three entire blocks full of food, beverage, arts, crafts and nonprofit vendors during our annual Kielbasi Festival & Heritage Day event. The day began with a fabulous turnout for the Parade of Nations. Folks lined the Main Street to enjoy a colorful, musical, and a wonderful celebration of the area's diverse cultures.
Every year a grand marshal is announced to lead the Parade of Nations and this year we honored the Shenandoah Youth Athletic Volunteer Leaders for their outstanding dedication and commitment to youth athletics in our community. They proudly marched alongside their teams as bystanders cheered them on. "We were very excited to see the volunteer leaders recognized for the countless hours they spend mentoring our youth," said DSI Board of Directors member and parade coordinator, Annie Taylor. She also explained that the current leaders also represented generations of youth sports volunteers.

This amazing festival that brings thousands of people to Shenandoah is only possible thanks to the entire community coming together to do their part," said Susan Williams, DSI spokesperson. "From the behind-the-scenes volunteers who clean up the area before the event and set up early in the morning and clean up long after everyone goes home, to the Shenandoah Borough team who handle so many tasks before and after the event including the challenging task of removing the garbage, from all the vendors who bring their food and wares, to the parade participants who gather together to create a colorful show, to the first responders who are on duty throughout the event...the list goes on and on. It truly takes a village, well a Borough in our case and there are truly so many people to thank. THANK YOU!" This is a day that truly shines the light on Shenandoah, PA, and celebrates the strong community that makes us who we are!
