Interpreters in the Pediatrician's Office

Thank you to the pediatricians who joined us for our live Lunch & Learn on July 12.

The American Academy of Pediatrics offers members a number of best practices for addressing limited English proficiency in a clinic. Effective communication is essential to providing high quality care to patients and their families. Limited English Proficiency (LEP) can significantly impact communication and are associated with inappropriate testing, missed diagnosis, increased use of emergency services and poor patient adherence to recommended care.

This project’s goal is to improve the quality and use of language access services in the healthcare setting for families whose preferred language is not English. To do that, we have developed a survey in different languages to learn about the barriers or challenges experienced by these families in the healthcare setting.

Please help us by sharing this survey with families in your community. The goal is for families to complete the survey by August 8th, 2023.

Help Us Reach Your Patients

The Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities & Family Navigation Network are requesting help from Nevada doctors to reach families with an important survey about language access services for families of children with special healthcare needs.
