Taco Tuesday at the SAR
One Done, Two More Coming!
SAR Membership Chair Keri McCombs and her committee members, and SAR Communications Committee Chair Laura Branning and her committee members, brought our first Taco Tuesday event of 2022 to the SAR parking lot, this week.

Lunch was catered by Cochinito Taqueria. The parking lot was staged with both stand-up and sit-down tables, with shaded tables between for serving. The event brought about one-hundred members together to enjoy a tasty lunch and cheerful conversation.

If you joined us in the second hour, you may be in this video; if you couldn't join us, this is a one-minute look at what you missed:

Thank you SAR! Great food and even greater company!
Miranda O'Callaghan

If you missed this you missed a great time. Plan on attending in July.
Gina Mosey

There will be two additional Taco Tuesday events on July 12th and August 16th - noon to 2:00 p.m.

All members are welcome to enjoy these complimentary lunches!

You never know who you're going to meet at the SAR's Taco Tuesday - like 2022 SAR President Eric Etzel (below)!

Luau on the Bluff
at Arbor Crest Winery Cliff House
Members of the association, with family and friends, enjoyed an Island-themed evening on the bluff - and one of the best views of the area - at the celebrated Arbor Crest Winery's Cliff House, this week.

The Thursday evening event was the first in-person member gathering since the pandemic, organized by event chair Keri McCombs, her co-chair Gina Mosey, their team of volunteers, and our generous sponsors: Banner Bank, Condron Homes, CW Title, Heritage Home Loans, NexTitle, and Spokane Teachers Credit Union.

The 1924 estate was originally the home of Royal Riblet, who invented the ski lift and many other things. It is perched atop a 500 foot basalt cliff above the Spokane River valley. The rambling property offers many different areas for dining, conversation, and strolling as these photos show - taken the night of our event.

This year, our charitable cause was "Beats and Rhythms," a support network for children and families affected by congenital heart disease.

SAR member Barb Pielli shared the evening with her grand-daughter (below) whose life is being made much better by this fine organization.
Spokane County home values rise an historic 31%, but what does it mean for your taxes?
The average Spokane County home is worth an incredible 31% more than it was a year ago, according to the assessor’s office.

Spokane County Assessor Tom Konis, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the assessor’s office, said he’s never seen such a dramatic spike.

“It’s the scariest time I’ve been through,” Konis said. “I truly feel sorry for young people trying to buy a house these days.”
Spokane County’s median home price hits record $450,000 in May, but market cooldown may be on the way
Buyers continued to find homes more expensive than ever in Spokane County as the median closing price hit $450,000 in May, but there are signs the market may cool.

The median closing price for homes and condos on less than 1 acre in May was a 20% increase compared to the $375,000 median in May 2021, according to data from the Spokane Association of Realtors.

The county’s previous all-time high median sales price was $430,000 in March.

The video runs about three minutes.
