Summer is in full swing! The sunlight lasts a little longer. Lightening Bugs are sparkling in my backyard as dusk falls each evening. When you step outdoors, children’s laughter (and screaming) can be heard in the neighborhoods. For many, the pace of life slows ever so slightly…enough to savor the special people in your life and create memories that last a lifetime. Dare I say it? As quickly as we finally fall into a sweet, summer rhythm, it’s time to prepare for back to school. The end of summer may bring a frenzy of emotions, and a never-ending to-do list (school supplies, shoes, and doctor’s appointments…OH MY!). We have a strategy that can help.
My prayer for parents and grandparents On the Hill is for you to leverage the opportunities you have to make ordinary moments… extraordinary. When the light of the church and the heart of the home (YOU) combine forces with a common strategy and language, our influence in the hearts of your kids is even more powerful than one influence on its own. We’re better together! That is why, this fall, you’ll find support by learning what it means to leverage ordinary moments as we offer a half-day parenting workshop (September 16th) and a new small group where parents can find community while exploring this common goal. Be on the lookout for registration to open up in August.
As Pastor Jeff recently shared, we can see that God is working in Next Gen On the Hill. We are so grateful for the growth we have seen God bring this year! As you tackle your back-to-school to-do’s, similarly, our ministry is also preparing to support the growth we’ve experienced and trust God for more. We want more lives forever changed, more kids’ faith foundations made sure, and more hands and feet joining God in the good work He is doing. Let us not back down from this opportunity. We pray more parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles than ever before will answer this call and SAY YES to the next generation. Although there are many ways to join us in our mission, currently, our biggest need is that of a small group leader. You don’t need to have all the answers or even prepare any of the things. What is needed is simple: show up consistently and pour out your love onto these kids and students.
During the last few months, our SAY YES parent resource walls have displayed the time we have to influence the next generation. I implore you (before it’s gone) to soak in its profound message. As you plan your fall schedules, let us be a church that will SAY YES to joining God in the good work He’s doing. We are better together and the time is now.
