New Immigration Story

During World War II, 45 million Europeans were displaced, which means that they were residing in a different location by the end of the war in 1945 compared to where they were living when the war started. Numerous families, including the Alksne family from Riga, Latvia, were compelled to relocate multiple times. The family eventually made it to Saskatchewan and greatly contributed to the German Canadian community in Saskatoon.

Youth Funding - Mach mit!


The SGC Youth Funding Program Mach mit! – Get involved! supports innovative youth projects with a German, Austrian or Swiss component. SGC member groups as well as other youth groups are eligible for funding. The Council is also accepting applications from individuals applying on behalf of a group of youth.

Applications for the Macht mit! – Get involved! program will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Successful groups are required to fill in a follow-up form to receive funding.
