JFS Seniors Receive a Pleasant Surprise

Plants prepared by Congregation B'nai Tikvah last month have new homes! JFS staff and volunteers delivered plants to local seniors who were both surprised and all smiles to see the painted pots and add a new plant to their garden. One Holocaust Survivor thanked B'nai Tikvah and JFS for selecting her to receive a plant. "This is very lovely. It's wonderful the adults and children took the time to paint and plant this gift. Thank you."

When it comes to supporting seniors in our community, sometimes the unexpected acts of kindness enhance engagement and help our homebound seniors feel nurtured.

Women's Center Participants Plan for the Unexpected

We are extremely grateful to Jose Roman, a senior staff attorney from Central Jersey Legal Services, who led a valuable workshop for our Women’s Center on estate planning as a means to protect and secure guardianship for minor children.

The group learned about Wills, Living Wills, and how to set up trusts for their children. Everyone gained a better understanding of how inheritances are divided, and how to ensure their families are protected in the future.

The Women's Center at JFS supports displaced homemakers as they work toward financial self-sufficiency through education, job readiness, life skills development and connection to supportive services.
