Dear Prevention,
Happy Halloween everyone! While I would love to share a spooky story for you all today, Halloween happens every year, but something else doesn't:
The Presidential Election Day happening on Tuesday November 5th.
This day is so important, that all Prevention Links offices will be closed so that our team can express the right to vote! Why? Because election Day gives us a powerful opportunity to help shape the community we want.
When we vote, we’re not just choosing candidates; we’re speaking up about issues that impact all our lives—things like healthcare, community safety, job opportunities, and so much more.
For many in recovery, the chance to vote can be especially meaningful.
Policies around healthcare, mental health resources, and support services are all influenced by the leaders we elect.
Voting gives us a voice in shaping these decisions.
In 2020, New Jersey took an important step by restoring voting rights for people on probation or parole, though many eligible individuals may not yet realize they can participate. For those of us working with the recovery community, it’s so important to spread the word and ensure everyone knows their voice matters.
You can beat the lines by voting early at one of your local early-voting locations, or find out where you can vote on Tuesday here.
Each vote is a step toward a community where everyone is valued and supported. Let's show up this election season and make sure our community reflects the values that matter to us. By voting, we’re building a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
