Effective June 1, 2022, the WA Department of Licensing (DOL) has implemented SB 5378.

This bill requires ALL Brokers and Managing Brokers to take a Fair Housing class.

Brokers and Managing Brokers licensed BEFORE June 1, 2022, will be REQUIRED to take the Washington Real Estate Fair Housing (6-hr)” before June 1, 2023.

New agents licensed AFTER June 1, 2022 will be REQUIRED to take the “Washington Real Estate Fair Housing (3-hr)”.

Each subsequent renewal will REQUIRE a 3-hour Fair Housing Class. Just like Current Issues in Washington Residential Real Estate, this 3-hours will be INCLUSIVE of your regular 30-hours required for each renewal.

Spokesperson Training
Members of your association's 2022 Leadership Team enjoyed a half-day workshop at the SAR, this week, on how to be a better spokesperson.

The training was conceived and delivered by recently retired Washington REALTORS®' Communications Director Steve Klaniecki (upper photo).

The workshop put a dozen members into real-life media situations that required them to think on their feet and deliver the REALTOR® message accurately and comfortably.

Here, SAR Broker Member and 2022 Washington State Women's Council of REALTORS® President Dezda Finn interviews SAR Public Affairs Director Tom McArthur about why home ownership matters (lower photo).

McArthur is a former radio/television news reporter who said even he learned some valuable tips from this excellent workshop.
