We're Hiring!
Carroll Reads is a federally-funded tutoring program aimed at helping children in elementary grades develop reading skills. If you are looking for a paid federal work-study position, this is a great opportunity to work with children in the community. Tutors are paid $8.80 per hour for tutoring twice/week, approximately 5 hours per week.

Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting one-on-one tutoring sessions with students using educator-provided materials.
  • Building rapport and cultivating enthusiasm with the children.
  • Assisting children in developing their reading and writing skills to reach grade-level expectations.
  • Weekly documenting and reviewing student data with the Carroll Reads Site Coordinators to gauge the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Regularly checking in with Carroll Reads Coordinators and Student Liaisons for continued training and assistance in tutoring.
  • Committing to tutoring two days per week, for ten weeks, over the course of the semester.

Justice Conference at JCU

Register to attend The 7th Biennial JUHAN Student Leadership Conference, “Humanitarian Action and Climate Change.” The conference will be offered in a hybrid format on the evenings of Thursday, September 30 and Friday, October 1, and the morning of Saturday, October 2.

This is a national student skill-building and leadership conference for students from Jesuit academic institutions raising awareness about international humanitarian issues. JCU is the sponsor of this event and all JCU personnel, students, faculty, and staff may attend without charge.

Sign-Up for Dragon Boat Festival Sept 18
Are you interested in seeing Cleveland by boat and enjoy team sports? Sign up for the Cleveland Dragon Boat Festival to take place Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm at Black River in Riverside Park in Lorain, Ohio. Transportation is provided and registration is free.


An overview of the Day:
  • Check-in starts at 7:30 am & races start at 9:00 am.
  • The Awakening of the Dragons ceremony takes place at 8:30- you do not want to miss that!
  • The length of the race will be 250m.
  • Medals will be awarded.
