PRESIDENT UPDATE

Dear Sabre Families, I hope everyone is enjoying a lighter hockey schedule and their summer.  I wanted to reach out and advise of some new changes to the club. First, I wanted to thank Scott Rybka, Steve Brown, Jen Malm and Angi Paravola for their time and dedication to the club over the years. Your service was very important to keeping the club running smoothly and will be missed. As these long time board members move on we have the opportunity to introduce the following new members to the board. We would like to welcome Meghan Coffman, Jordan Diamond and Jennifer Kelly to the board.  Thank you, Blake Rosenberg President Sabre Hockey Association

WELCOME NEW BOARD MEMBERS

MEGHAN COFFMAN My Sabre is moving from Mites to Squirts this year and I was surprised at how much I found myself loving both the competition of travel hockey and the role of team manager. My husband and I are both Chicago area transplants, having met in college at UW—Madison and spending our pre-kid years in the city. When not at the rink or driving to and from, I love being outside with friends and neighbors and will soon be taking on the role of competitive cheer mom for my 2nd grade daughter. Looking forward to another great year with the Sabres family and making it the best yet.

JORDAN DIAMOND My name is Jordan Diamond and over the past 20 years I have been involved in youth hockey in Illinois as a coach Currently,I have two daughters playing for the Sabres. My oldest daughter Ella is seven and played on CUHL last season. My youngest daughter Maddie is six and played for JSHL. This past year I was the JSHL Coordinator, running both the Gold and Navy Divisions. I was also the Assistant Coach for my daughter's CUHL 4 team and the Girls U10 Coordinator. I am invested in the long term success of the Sabres organization and very excited to be joining the Sabres board!

JENNIFER KELLY My husband, Dan, and I have two kids who are Sabre skaters - Carter (2012 birth year) and Eowyn (2014 birth year). We have been part of the Sabre family since 2018. When not at a rink, I spend my days working as a Senior Manager at a Global professional services firm and my evenings taking my kids to soccer or gymnastics (because hockey doesn’t keep them busy enough). While Dan has managed to volunteer at the Sabres, my job had previously limited my ability to do so, but after recently changing roles I was looking to be more involved in supporting my kids’ activities. I’m hoping being on the Sabre board will allow me to use my talents to make an impact on the organization.

LORI MALY FUND

The Lori Maly Fund was established to assist low income families with hockey fees. Families that find themselves in financial difficulty because of an event such as loss of employment or a death in the family can apply for fee relief through the Lori Maly Fund. DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Sabre Families, During our small break in Sabre Programming, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. I hope everyone takes a few days away from the rink to celebrate the holiday weekend and recharge those hockey batteries. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and we want to make sure our athletes are hungry with anticipation for the 2022-2023 season. Spring hockey always feels more like an extension of the previous fall season rather than a true prelude to next fall. The Stanley Cup Finals wrapping up seems to signify the real turning of the page from one season to the next. After the 4th of July things always seem to speed up quickly and before we know it, Blue & Gold camp is upon us.  We've got a lot of exciting information coming your way in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, we wanted to make sure to get you some important dates to take note of in regard to the 2022-2023 season. Be sure to mark your calendars.
