Dear Residents -
If you haven’t voted, you can still take advantage of early voting at Town Hall this Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please note that there will NOT be voting on Monday and, on Tuesday, voting is at your regular polling place. Not sure where that is, click here.
Orangetown is once again offering our veterans a complimentary lunch as a small token of our thanks for their service, which is paid for by funds raised through the Orangetown Military Banner Program. Any Orangetown veteran interested, please contact Allison at (845) 359-5100 x2293 to place your order by Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The annual Tappan Fire Department 5K Run/Walk and the Raymond W. DeMeola VFW Veterans Day Observance will both take place in Tappan on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The 5K begins and ends at the German Masonic Grounds, with proceeds benefiting the Tappan Fire Department. To register, click here. The Veterans Day Observance will be held at the Walkway of Heroes. See the flyers below for details on both events.
The Rockland GAA will be hosting a blood drive this Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 9 am to 3 pm at the GAA Clubhouse. National levels of blood have been depleted since the hurricanes devastated the South last month. So please if you can, consider donating.
As a reminder, daylight saving time officially ends at 2 am on Sunday, when the clocks “fall back” one hour and we can all enjoy an extra hour of sleep. So, remember to set your clocks back before you go to bed on Saturday night.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Regards,

On Sunday, October 20, 2024, Supervisor Kenny, members of law enforcement, elected officials, members of the O’Grady, Brown and Paige families and members of the public lined the entrance to the NYS Thruway for the 43rd Commemoration of the Brinks Robbery. It is a tribute to Sgt. Edward O'Grady Jr., PO Waverly "Chipper" Brown and Brinks Guard Peter Paige that 4 decades later the community still comes out to remember their bravery and their sacrifice. | Meals on Wheels Cornucopia | |

E-scooters, e-bikes, and hoverboards have grown in popularity among Americans in recent years, as a way to get to and from work, school or for fun.. In light of the spike in injuries, the UNITED STATES CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION reminds consumers to use caution and safety with these devices.
Consumers should take these steps to prevent fires with micromobility devices:
- CPSC urges consumers to only use micromobility products that have been designed, manufactured, and certified for compliance with the applicable consensus safety standards.
- Always be present when charging micromobility products, never while sleeping, and only use the supplied charger.
- Only use an approved replacement battery pack.
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper charging and unplug the device when done.
- Never use an micromobility device with a battery pack that has been modified/reworked by unqualified personnel or with re-purposed or used cells.
- NEVER throw lithium batteries into the trash or general recycling. Instead, take them to your local battery recycler or hazardous waste collection center.
