Dictionaries Donated to All 3rd Graders
Thank you, Long Beach Public Library Foundation, for donating dictionaries to LBUSD students during the annual Dictionary Day! Since its inception in 2003, more than 135,000 new dictionaries have been donated to local students.

Disbursement of Employee Raises in the Works

As reported in the previous edition of the School Bulletin, the Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education approved raises for various employee groups last month. CSEA members received checks for a 1% retroactive payment as of May 23, and they received a 2% retroactive payment as of June 8. Distribution dates are pending for the 4.5% retroactive payment approved for TALB and qualifying non-represented employees. At the conclusion of retroactive payments, all the new ongoing salary adjustments will be included on all future paychecks. One-time (off-schedule) payments are expected during summer of 2022 for CSEA members, and during September of 2022 for TALB members and non-represented employees.
COVID-19 Testing for LBUSD Students and Employees

As a reminder, PCR and antigen rapid tests are available to LBUSD staff and students who are symptomatic or potentially coming off isolation.

  • Summer of YOU: Summer is a perfect time to be sure to take care of and plan for YOU. Preventive care helps detect or prevent serious diseases and medical problems before they can become major. Annual check-ups, immunizations and flu shots, as well as certain tests and screenings, are a few examples of preventive care. Be sure to schedule your medical and dental checkup today! 

Annual Enrollment Ended May 31

All changes are effective July 1, 2022. Whether or not you made any changes, you will get a confirmation statement mailed to your home address on file by the week of June 13.

Please make sure to review your confirmation statement and verify the following:

  • Benefit plans (medical, dental, vision and/or flexible spending accounts)
  • Covered dependents, if applicable
  • Beneficiary(ies) for basic life
