Many Medi-Cal benefits pay for skilled nursing facility care and in-home services. The Assisted Living Waiver, commonly known as the ALW, is among the few select government programs, however, that instead help a consumer pay for an assisted living facility, as well as assisted living services in subsidized housing units. The ins and outs of the ALW can be very complex for those without a sufficient background, but an understanding of the ALW is critical for any attorney who help adults who are older or disabled.

Our speaker, Karen Hess, a licensed clinical social worker, is the supervisor of the ALW program at Jewish Family Service LA and has vast experience in all aspects of care for those who people who are assisted by the program. She will explain how the ALW operates and the various ways families can access the program for their loved ones.
