At a recent meeting, the demographic and population shifts prompted by COVID-19 and everything that came with it were discussed. Florida is a leading state for growth, but not because of births. Texas leads the US in birth rates, while Florida has one of the lowest birth rates, owing to our older population.

How should we feel about the economy? Brad McMillan explains why the glass is half-full.

David Kelly provides a similar assessment- if we have a recession, which is less likely than it was, it may not be that bad. Access to bank credit continues to be a risk factor.

On a more dour note, by 2032, entitlement payments plus interest are expected to consume all Federal revenue collection on a permanent basis. Our elected representatives continue to kick this can down the road.

We saw The Flash last week, with mixed reviews from our group. Fans of Michael Keaton’s Batman films are more likely to enjoy it.

Africa may split in two. Or it might not. We won’t know for at least a few million years.

Q: What do you think about Artificial Intelligence? Should we be scared?

A: Like most things, AI is not all good or all bad. We feel like this defense of AI, by venture capitalist and Netscape cofounder Marc Andreessen, is worth reading.

On balance, we are more excited about AI’s continued potential to enhance our lives than it’s negative potential.
