Dear Friends,
Freedom School 3.0 has begun! AND as I am writing this letter, I can hear voices from the very first day of the very first day of Aftercare Summer Camp! It has been a beautiful day!!
When I think about all that has happened to make Freedom School possible for three years running, and all that has happened to begin an Aftercare ministry, I am reminded, once again, how amazing the Maplewood UMC community of faith truly is!
These ministries happen because you are willing to take leaps of faith that call us to extravagant generosity in our giving, serving, and praying.
As I recently shared in worship, you are a congregation who consistently “fights above your weight
class.” Because of your faith and faithfulness God is doing amazing things in the lives of young people and their families, and the lives of community leaders. Transformation through the love of Christ is happening one person, one day at a time. I thank God for you and the ministry we get to do together.
This coming Sunday we will have a guest preacher, Rev. Mark Statler, who is the Director of the Center for Leadership Excellence for the Missouri Conference of the United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark will be working with the Administrative Council and anyone who would like to learn more about church leadership after worship on Sunday from 1 – 3 p.m.
| |
Also on Sunday, Emilie Richard and Chase Garrett, who are part of the jump blues band, Sweetie and the Toothaches, will be leading worship music while Amy Cordeal takes a well-deserved vacation.
It will be a good day to be in worship as we come together and listen to new voices.
God’s grace and peace be with you,
Pastor Kim

To keep our Second Time Around Shop fully stocked, we rely on donations of good clean clothing for adults and children, kitchen items, shoes, purses,
books and so much more. Bring donations on Thursday when shop is open or place donations in bins in Memorial Hall

Pick up a Blessing Bag or two as you leave church to keep in your car to hand out to someone in need. Our Blessing Bags are "SUMMER" Blessing Bags which have a bottle of water added and the winter hats and gloves removed.
Thanks to the Children and Youth Sunday School, who put our Blessing Bags together when our supply runs out.
