Wonderful

Wonderful

I took my car in for service a few weeks ago and after sitting a short time at the service desk of my long time service assistant (Tammy), I happen to notice a 5X7 framed sentiment on her desk that read “Make Today Wonderful”.  It stuck in my head and as you can see it still remains. In retrospect her attitude depicts the saying.

And it made me think: what if I started each day “believing” that I had the power to make this day wonderful…not worrying about the days after, or the days before, but just this one day. What would a wonderful day look like to me and what would it look like to you?

Making a day wonderful is dependent on a choice of attitude on whatever you are doing that day:  working, carpooling, playing, studying, gardening, surfing, painting, moving, planting, healing, vacationing, etc. just to name a few.

Are you, and am I willing to stay the course of being positive and looking at things that come my way as little token treasures that God has sent to bless me, grow me, intrigue me, encourage me or enlighten me….today.  Am I watching for things that touch my heart or better yet, ways that I can touch some else’s heart.

I have found, as I suspect many of you have too, that when I take my eyes off self and engage in the giving, or helping or loving someone else, it is there that I find fulfillment and a sense of wellness and satisfaction.  The word “wonder” is tucked right inside the word wonderful.  Full of wonder, and when we begin to look at life through the wonder of God’s creation, God’s presence, His power,  his counsel, and his grace, that is where we land on a wonderful day.

Imagine today, just this one day at a time, if God laid before us an empty basket as we awakened, and said, be watching;  for today I will fill this basket with hopes that will conquer your fears, natures beauty to behold,  opportunities and adventure that will overcome or enlighten routine,  and provisions that will remind you that you are secure through my love and strength.

Through prayerful intervals through our day, we will not only see the basket filling but will hardly be able to carry the weight of its glorious bounty. And the goal I think for God is for us to share the bounty with those who need it.

Sometimes I know that our baskets may feel like they are filled with stones, and they are, but only for a time that God is helping us to grow strong in our faith and our trust in his ways.  For even through those trials may be heavy to carry, his grace will give us strength to endure and the courage to persevere.  And the blessings to follow for another day. But the blessings will outweigh the griefs is we carefully entrust the love and comfort and care that God continually pours into our lives each day…

So TODAY….make it WONDERFUL.  Not just for you but make it wonderful for someone else!!!!Isn’t that what we are called to do???

It was just a silly sign on a desk….God uses the smallest of things sometimes to get our attention…If you are watching, you too will see his signs of WONDER!

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 28:29

All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent.

Praise God wherever you are and whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . His glory will shine through!
