This summer update will highlight an upcoming webinar on how the American Community Survey data can help with local decision-making. We also want to share the updated version of the evaluation report the New York State Census Equity Fund commissioned about its work in supporting state and local redistricting processes. With competing demands and limited budgets, state and local policymakers need reliable and timely data to plan effective programs for their constituents. The U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS) is a critical resource for evaluating community needs and prioritizing requests for assistance. In this webinar, experts will describe how they use ACS data to inform decisionmakers at the state and local levels. Presentations will include examples of using ACS data to estimate childcare needs, develop alternative poverty measures, and other applications.

Census and Redistricting Resources for New Yorkers


Updated Report: In a previous newsletter, we shared the evaluation report for the New York State Census Equity Fund's redistricting efforts. The report has had a few minor changes since we last released it last month. The two corrections can be found on page 5 and page 11 to further clarify the independent redistricting process in Syracuse, and the role the Common Council plays in the approval process. we hope you will share the updated report, Lessons In Redistricting: Focused Grantmaking,
