ARC President Honored with ALF Exemplary Leader Award


On Friday, October 18, American River College President Dr. Lisa Cardoza was presented with the American Leadership Forum, Mountain Valley Chapter’s Exemplary Leader Award. She was recognized as someone who thinks and works regionally, values diversity, and is a successful collaborative leader, shining a spotlight on and uplifting the ARC community. New Faces at ARC!

Mariana Valdez Jimenez, Title V HSI Grant Project, Student Support Specialist

Mariana, who started her new role on October 7th, brings extensive experience, including her work at ARC, the RAZA Center at Sacramento City College, and TRIO SSS at ARC. Her dedication to providing equitable access to higher education for marginalized students has been at the core of her career.

Monica Cummings, Mental Health Clinician Supervisor in Student Health and Wellness

Monica is a Filipinx-American Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with 5 years of experience in mental health and 3 years of experience at Merced Community College. She is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive space for students to thrive. As a Mental Health Clinician Supervisor, she will provide direct support to students and engage the Los Rios community through outreach, workshops, and staff training.

Hiring the Best/Equity Representative Training


Interested in serving on a hiring or interview committee? Join our online session on Friday, November 1, from 9:00 to 11:00 am to complete these essential training courses. Together, we’ll cover important details for serving on hiring committees in our “Hiring the Best” training, followed by a comprehensive session on becoming an effective Equity Representative. Enhance your skills and help contribute to a fair and equitable hiring process at Los Rios!

Election Day is November 5 - Vote at ARC!


We are here to support you as you participate in the upcoming election. You can drop off your ballot at the ARC Welcome Center anytime leading up to Election Day. On November 5, ARC’s Community Rooms will serve as a voting center, open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Make your voice heard and be part of this important civic process!

College Isn’t Scary! 


Demystify the spooky college process- come learn about American River College resources and services. We are bringing ARC resources, information, and friendly faces to our students in the Natomas and surrounding area! Come talk to different resource centers, get free goodies, enjoy food, and listen to music.

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos with ARC


In collaboration with the Center for Leadership and Development and Puente, we will honor our ancestors, those who are no longer with us, and celebrate their lives in the community. We will have a blessing from the Wilton Rancheria, a performance from the ARC Mariachi Club, and community announcements. Followed by activities including face painting, marigold flower making, sugar skull painting, and the building of the altar.

Transfer Application Support Services


Do you have students applying to a UC or CSU for Fall 2025? ARC staff and counselors are here to help! Students can get live 1-on-1 support with their transfer applications to any of the 9 UC or CSU campuses.


Welcome and Support Center Office Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Wednesday: Open late until 7:00 pm


Fall 2025 Deadlines:
