IVHFH TO HONOR DR. CHRISTINE GRANT
Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity will dedicate Women Build volunteer days to honor and remember Dr. Christine Grant. In 2013, Dr. Grant was the honoree of the IVHFH Women Build home and lead the Women Build committee to raise over $50,000 and recruit hundreds of volunteers to support construction of a Habitat home in Iowa City. IVHFH had the honor of working with Christine through the Women Build committee for the past 8 years. We invite the community to come together in service and take part in Christine Grant Build Week at the Jane Hagedorn Women Build site April 27-30. If you cannot take part in construction but still want to participate, there are opportunities to prepare and serve lunches for volunteers and on-site photography. For more information and to sign up to volunteer, email Leda at leda@iowavalleyhabitat.org.

This photo was taken in 2013 near Carver Hawkeye Arena where Dr. Grant, members of the Women Build committee, University of Iowa coaches and athletes, and Habitat staff and volunteers gathered to construct the walls that would frame the Christine Grant Women Build home.
HOMEOWNER SPOTLIGHT: MICKI
Last year, IVHFH served homeowner Micki through the Helping Hands home repair program. Micki's home needed several repairs that she could not afford. She explained, "Some repairs I space off because it’s a big expense. [Helping Hands is] kind of like having backup if something bad happens. I don’t have any income right now. If I didn’t have backup during an emergency situation I don’t know what I would do. I don’t have any money for that." Micki has lived in her house for 21 years and thanks to Helping Hands, she can continue living safely in her home with her dog, Lily. Read on to learn how IVHFH addressed Micki's home repair needs.
IOWA CITY HBA VOLUNTEERS ON
WOMEN BUILD
Earlier this month, members of the Iowa City Area Home Builders Association volunteered on construction of the Jane Hagedorn Women Build. Thanks to Martin Construction, PSC Distribution/Studio H2O, McCreedy-Ruth, and Bachmeier Carpet One Floor and Home for spending your day with us! IVHFH is especially grateful to the entire Iowa City HBA for supporting this project in honor of Jane Hagedorn. Jane is the former owner of Bea Day Plumbers and has been a member of the HBA for several decades.

IVHFH RECEIVES AWARD FROM 100+ WOMEN
WHO CARE
IVHFH was proud to be selected to receive donations from the 100+ Women Who Care Hawkeye Chapter! The chapter meets four times a year donating $100 dollars each and selects a different non-profit each quarter to receive those donations. Former IVHFH Board President, Niki Prom, nominated our organization to receive donations to support the Helping Hands home repair program. Through this award, IVHFH will serve Johnson County residents with affordable critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and emergency home repairs and major appliance replacements. Thank you, 100+ Women Who Care! We look forward to partnering with you to help our neighbors continue living safely in their homes.
