On April 13, 1777, Lord Charles Cornwallis led 4000 British Crown troops in attack on a small American garrison in Bound Brook, where about 500 troops were commanded by General Benjamin Lincoln. The objective: surround the town, capture the garrison and provisions to gain a foothold.

Mark the 245th anniversary with an event-packed weekend in Bound Brook, at the Abraham Staats House and the Van Horne House in nearby Bridgewater.

American and Loyalist troops take to the streets of Bound Brook on Saturday April 9 at Old Stone Arch Bridge and Queens Bridge, then in the afternoon on Main Street in South Bound Brook. Visit the Abraham Staats House on Saturday afternoon and Sunday April 10 for troop encampments, drills, lectures house tours and more. More information.

Want to party like it’s 1777? Start the weekend off on April 8 at the Van Horne House as the Heritage Trail Association hosts Rolling Toward Revolution, then return the following evening for a Colonial Dance, both with music from Anne and Ridley Enslow. More information.

There’s much much more, including exhibits, walking tours and the Battle & Brews pub crawl. Check out the schedule here.
