Si View E-News November 2022

The indoor recreation season has arrived. From pickleball to indoor playground, the community center is welcoming many new visitors recently - and we are glad you are here! We are truly thankful for our local community; whether you participate in our seasonal programs, support our efforts through volunteering or sponsorship, provide input at meetings or through surveys, or use local parks for recreation, we greatly appreciate your ongoing support.

Recent volunteer projects have been numerous, and you have made a difference! In October we hosted two community events, the Squashtacular celebration at Tollgate Farm and the Harvest Festival at Si View Community Center. Without the help of youth volunteers, boy scouts, and community members, these events would not have been successful. Also in October, Si View youth council completed a month-long Socktober drive, collecting nearly 150 pairs of new socks to keep our community in need warm this winter. For the next several months, over 100 local volunteers are coaching youth basketball. This generous commitment of sharing the passion for the sport and helping youth grow as team players is immensely valuable to local youth development, thank you! To learn more about volunteer opportunities, please contact us today.

Looking for a job? Part-time and seasonal positions are available in most departments. Our aquatics team is actively seeking qualified candidates for lifeguarding and swim instructor positions. We have added two American Red Cross lifeguard training certification courses this winter for individuals who have interest in these positions. Learn more here, and please share with others who may be interested!

This weekend brings seasonal end to daylight savings time. If you haven't set a reminder yet, now is the time! Clocks move back by one hour - early on Sunday November 6th. Another date to mark on your calendars is our Winter registration opening day, on Friday December 9th. You can expect the latest issue of the Si View Activity Guide in local mailboxes the week of December 5th.

See you at local parks!

Aquatic Center Remains a Top Priority

Si View has proposed a capital bond measure to construct a new community aquatic center in November 2020 and again in August 2022. Despite strong community support, we fell a little short of the required 60% super majority. We are now collecting your input, looking to learn what we missed, and how we should move forward.

A community listening session is scheduled at Si View Community Center for Wednesday November 16th, 6:30PM. Please join us in-person or virtually. A second meeting is scheduled for Wednesday February 1st. We are also collecting input via an online survey. Online survey is now open through December 29, 2022.

As we consider alternates, pursue cost estimates and collect community input, it is all with a goal of developing a new proposal to present in November 2023, providing our community an option for a new aquatic center in North Bend. We invite you to participate in this process, stay informed and share information with your neighbors and friends.

NEW: Swim Assessments

Are you new to Si View aquatics? We are offering free swim assessments to students 3-years and older who have not had prior lessons in the Si View program or who have been absent from the program for longer than 12 months. Our aquatics team is offering assessments on Fri Dec 2-Sun Dec 4, ahead of the winter open enrollment that starts Friday Dec 9. Individual assessments are scheduled for 15-minute timeslots, including a 10-minute skill check in the water and 5-minute discussion. Pre-registration is required and opens November 7. Schedule your assessment here. Please note that siblings need to register for individual time slots.

Featured Event: Bingo Night

Come join us for an all-ages game night at Si View Community Center! Bring your family and friends and be ready for a night of BINGO and classic board games. We will have prizes for winners and entertainment for all.

This event is free, but pre-registration is required. Just one registration per family to help us prepare the event space. Donations supporting Si View community programs are gladly accepted at the time of registration or at the door.

Featured Program: NEW - Winter Driving Safety

Are you ready for winter driving conditions? Join a local driving instructor for a classroom session on safe driving. We will discuss winter driving, handling emergencies, updates in law changes involving driving, recent concerns in the driving world, and have special guest from the state patrol and Snoqualmie Police Department to help answer all your questions. This course is for drivers new and old. Everyone 16 and up can always learn more to be a better driver and make our roads safer.

This is a free program, pre-registration required. Sign up here.
