Senior Pastor, Dr. Stephen Buchanan and group facilitator, Crescent Hessen share the effects of INSTE in their church.

INSTE: To what point did the group reach the goals of this course? Was there a particular goal that stood out?

P: This group of potential leaders continue to demonstrate enthusiasm for the Word of God. [There] was great communication and brotherly [love] among peers. I am confidant that they are growing into strong spiritual leaders.

C: The [Discipleship I] course was very challenging to the students. The depth of knowledge received from the manual was fulfilling. They learned topics that they were never familiar with. Each lesson was a learning experience for the students. They are able to use scripture in areas of ministry they are involved in. Learning to memorize scripture will give them power and authority to evangelize effectively. The "Spiritual Diary" was helpful to them in growing their prayer life.

INSTE: ¿Hasta qué punto el grupo alcanzó las metas de este curso? ¿Hubo algún objetivo en particular que destacara?

P: Este grupo de líderes potenciales sigue demostrando entusiasmo por la Palabra de Dios. [Había] gran comunicación y [amor] fraternal entre compañeros. Confío en que se están convirtiendo en fuertes líderes espirituales.

C: El curso [Discipulado I] fue muy desafiante para los estudiantes. La profundidad del conocimiento recibido del manual fue satisfactoria. Aprendieron temas con los que nunca estaban familiarizados. Cada lección fue una experiencia de aprendizaje para los estudiantes. Pueden usar las Escrituras en las áreas del ministerio en las que están involucrados. Aprender a memorizar las Escrituras les dará poder y autoridad para evangelizar de manera efectiva. El "Diario Espiritual" les ayudó a crecer en su vida de oración.

INSTE: How would you rate the group dynamics among your students? Were there any special circumstances that influenced the level of study and interaction in your group?

S: [The students were] warm, friendly and caring towards one another. They were open and shared a lot. The fact that this group were all leaders at various levels [within the church], helped to strengthen their bonds and mature interactions.

C: The group had a strong connection with each other. The students bonded well through interaction and inter-personal relationships. Their personal testimony that each person gave touched the hearts and brought tears to their fellow classmates eyes.

INSTE: ¿Cómo calificaría la dinámica de grupo entre sus estudiantes? ¿Hubo alguna circunstancia especial que influyó en el nivel de estudio e interacción en su grupo?

S: [Los estudiantes fueron] cálidos, amistosos y cariñosos entre sí. Eran abiertos y compartían mucho. El hecho de que este grupo fueran todos líderes en varios niveles [dentro de la iglesia], ayudó a fortalecer sus lazos y madurar las interacciones.

C: El grupo tenía una fuerte conexión entre ellos. Los estudiantes se unieron bien a través de la interacción y las relaciones interpersonales. El testimonio personal que cada persona dio tocó el corazón y trajo lágrimas a los ojos de sus compañeros de clase.

INSTE: How has INSTE affected the spiritual life of your church? Are the members of your INSTE group growing in their relationship with God and with fellow believers in the church?

S: In this difficult time of COVID19, the INSTE students have been the core members that keep our church going.

C: Most of the students have shown growth spiritually in the way they worship in church. There is a togetherness that shows among the group members.

INSTE: ¿Cómo ha afectado INSTE la vida espiritual de su iglesia? ¿Los miembros de su grupo INSTE están creciendo en su relación con Dios y con los hermanos creyentes en la iglesia?

S: En este momento difícil de COVID19, los estudiantes de INSTE han sido los miembros principales que mantienen a nuestra iglesia en marcha.

Spring Online Classes

INSTE in the United States and Canada offers a selection of online courses for students in the Certificate and Diploma programs who would like to continue their studies with groups from across North America. Currently, all of our online courses are in English. If you are fluent in Spanish and would like to be an online facilitator, email our registrar at for the next steps!

Level 1 - Certificate Program

This certificate program is structured around four crucial discipleship habits: personal devotions, Bible study skills, relationships, and ministry. This program focuses on the character development of the disciple. Intensive discipleship (being) plus foundational Bible and theological input (knowing) lead to ministry (doing). Each believer has gifts, talents and skills that are to be used in the Kingdom of God. Through this program, maturing disciples find their places in the Body of Christ, in which they can serve the Lord with joy and effectiveness. The base price for a Level 1 course is $90.

Level 1 - Digital Courses

This option gives the student a complete online experience with online book and exams. All course material is studied and completed online in a digital format. We have implemented the pedagogical and didactic tools offered by modern distance education so that you will have a better online learning experience. Students still meet in groups online once a week to grow relationships with fellow believers and apply the information learned throughout the week. The base price for a Digital Course is $90.

Level 2 - Diploma Program

Students must have completed their Certificate in Christian Ministry in order to be fully enrolled in this program. Visiting students can study up to three of these subjects without having completed Level 1 subjects previously. The focus of this program is leadership development. The base price for a Level 2 course is $240.
