Colorado Avalanche 2022 Champion Celebration
Parade and Rally Energizes City
|
More than 500,000 people gathered in downtown Denver on June 30 to celebrate the Colorado Avalanche's Stanley Cup Victory.
The Parade featured 27 firetrucks and 17 other vehicles carrying Avs players and their families and also one truck that included other Denver hockey and lacrosse champions; the Quebec Qualifier Pee Wees, East High Angels, Denver University Pioneers and Colorado Mammoth. The Budweiser Clydesdales showed up for the festivities, too!
As the Parade made its way from Union Station to Civic Center Park, an enthusiastic crowd danced to a live Big Head Todd and the Monsters performance, watched 2022 season highlights on giant video screens and were energized by Avalanche and other personalities.
After the Parade arrived at Civic Center Park, the crowd heard impassioned speeches from Mayor Michael B Hancock, Governor Jared Polis, Colorado Avalanche Executive VP, GM Joe Sakic and Head Coach Jared Bednar, and Avalanche Team Members. What a celebration!
The Office of Special Events is proud to have played a pivotal role in putting on this remarkable celebration for the City and County of Denver. Let's hope for a repeat event next year and keep the Stanley Cup home in Colorado!
