A tribute to Alexandros "Alex" Anastasiou

Untitled Design

Facebook, Mayor Carolyn Amyotte, Tuesday May 2, 2023

It is with a terrible, heavy sadness and a broken heart that I share with you the passing of long time township staff member Alex Anastasiou. Alex provided 11 years of dedicated service to the Township and his community as a whole as our Parks and Recreation Attendant/Facility Operator. He was also a member of the NK Fire Department for 15 years. He was well loved and well-respected- a true gentleman. Our deepest sympathies go out to Jacquie and his family. Alex’s son Lukuas, is also an employee with the Township...

Mayor Carolyn Amoytte Message

Hi Everyone,

You might be surprised to know that there is more to North Kawartha than just Apsley!

My latest video was filmed in the beautiful hamlet of Glen Alda where I joined the Glen Alda Seniors for a delicious lunch (thanks Bordertown Cafe!) and I got to check out the amazing renovations that were completed at the Glen Alda Community Centre (GACC). Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation, McSquared Renovations, Gary Geraldi and all the NK Parks and Rec Staff, as well as Barry Rand and the GA Seniors for a job well done. For a 100+ year old building, the GACC cleans up beautifully!

  • Thursday, July 27, 2023
  • Wednesday, September 27, 2023

Did you know you can pay your taxes through online banking?

Search for "North Kawartha Township - Tax" under the payee list and enter the first 15 digits of your roll number as the account number. When you pay through online banking your payment is automatically applied to the tax roll account that was entered when the payment was set up, so if you have more than one roll number make sure to set up an account for each property! Please allow processing time as it can take two to seven business days for the Township to receive your payment.

Make paying your property taxes easy! It's not too late to sign up for the pre-authorized payment program with a choice of three different payment schedules. You can find our Pre-Authorized Payment Program Form on our website with instructions on how to sign up. If you have any questions about the pre-authorized payment program, please contact the Deputy Treasurer through email or at 706-656-4445 extension 233.

Summer BBQ Safety Tips

Untitled Design
  • All barbeque grills must only be used outdoors; using grills indoors or in enclosed spaces is not only a fire hazard, but it exposes occupants to toxic gasses and potential asphyxiation.
  • Always position the grill well away from combustible objects; buildings, fences, deck railings and landscaping can easily/quickly ignite.
  • Get your grill cleaned, serviced, and ensure to check all propane tanks and lines for leaks and damage.
  • Never leave a lit grill unattended.
  • Always use long handled grilling utensils and heat resistant oven mitts to avoid exposure burns from heat and flames.
  • Periodically remove grease build-up in catch trays to prevent it from igniting.
  • Keep a garden hose nearby, connected and ready for use in case of a fire.
