at the Virginia Living Museum!
Virginia Living Museum is a leader in stimulating knowledge, awareness and appreciation of the living world.
The Virginia Living Museum is home to more than 250 species of animals found in Virginia including reptiles, mammals, birds and fish and plants native to their ecosystems. Your gifts provide a natural habitat for orphaned, non-releasable or injured animals like Cocoa the bobcat seen in the cover photo above. She received an enrichment item of a paper mâché ball filled with exciting treats like fish (very exciting to a Bobcat!)
The Museum's total annual budget for Animal Welfare is $818,815 which provides specialized food, veterinary care, habitats, training, and enrichment. That's a huge daily grocery bill! This also includes enrichment objects such as “furniture,” and materials to construct enrichment items in- house (e.g. artificial logs and perches) as well as specific medications and training tools and supplies like targets, polls, clickers, and pouches.
