Hello from Haiti!
Why Solar?
Exactly one year ago we announced a campaign to raise funds to purchase a solar system to power the clinic. Haiti is known to have a very unreliable power grid, and in fact the entire city of Cap-Haitien has not had power available for three years. Several years ago, we installed a battery/inverter system that used city power as the main source with a generator backup. Due to the worsening situation, we had to change our main power source. We decided to use the sun which shines a lot in Haiti!
You Gave, but we Had to Wait
We are grateful that you responded so quickly. We purchased a system and shipped it to Haiti. But then, the political and security situation deteriorated to the point that we could not travel to do the installation and we had to wait. Finally, the situation improved to the point we were able to get the job done last month. The installation went very well, and the solar system is working. We did discover that the inverter the solar system connects to was no longer working. A replacement part arrived in Haiti today, so the clinic should have power in the coming days. What a relief!

X-Ray System Update
