CTA Yellow Line Crash Leaves 32 Injured

Recently on November 16th, 2023, around 10:45am, a CTA Yellow line that was headed downtown slammed into a train snowplow near the Howard Station. The impact knocked both passengers and transit employees off their feet, leaving 38 people injured. Of those, 23 were transported to local hospitals and at least three were critically injured. Four of those injured were children and one person required special rescue from the Evanston Fire Department.


The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed later Thursday that they were investigating why the piece of winter equipment was on the tracks on a 60 degree day and how the train managed to collide with it.

Listeria outbreak linked to whole peaches, nectarines, and plums.

Recently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated a listeria outbreak linked to whole peaches, nectarines and plums has resulted in one death and ten hospitalizations in several states.The HMC Farms on Friday recalled the fruit sold between May 1 and November 15, 2022. The recall does not include nectarines, peaches, and plums currently being sold in stores. Those that have purchased the fruit are instructed to throw it out or return it to the store immediately.


Listeria symptoms include fever, tiredness, muscle aches and may begin within two weeks after consumption Symptoms may also occur as early as the same day or as late as 10 weeks after consumption.
