New Chair, and new President and CEO nominated for the WSIB
Grant Walsh, Chair
Jeffery Lang, President and CEO
Today the Government of Ontario nominated Grant B. Walsh as the next Chair of our Board of Directors, and Jeffery A. Lang as the next President and CEO of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). We expect them to be in their new roles in early February.

Grant joined the WSIB Board of Directors in January 2021 and brings with him deep expertise in the fields of health care, finance, and real estate management. Grant has experience as a CEO, Board Chair and Director, providing leadership to a range of public and private sector organizations, serving on over 30 Boards of Directors. That experience includes serving as Chair of Canada Lands Company Limited with real estate properties across Canada, and as President and CEO of St. Peter’s Health System.

Jeff joined the WSIB Board of Directors in October 2019 and currently serves as Vice-Chair of our Investment committee. Jeff was recently President and CEO of two Ontario-based manufacturing businesses with customers around the world. He also has deep roots in community volunteerism including being a co-founder and Board Chair of the Canadian Economic Development Assistance for South Sudan, and terms as President of Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Boys and Girls Club of London.

This is an important step for the future of the WSIB. Together, Grant and Jeff’s experience will help our organization as we continue to move ahead to improve return to work and recovery outcomes for people, and transform our processes to deliver better customer service.
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) is here to help. When an injury or illness happens on the job, we move quickly to provide wage-loss benefits, medical coverage and support to help people get back to work. Funded by businesses, we also provide no-fault collective liability insurance and access to industry-specific health and safety information. We are one of the largest insurance organizations in North America covering over five million people in more than 300,000 workplaces across Ontario.
