Chandler Unified School District and ASU unveil dynamic partnership to empower STEM education

Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) and Arizona State University have announced a partnership to enhance educational experiences and opportunities for students that leverages the entrepreneurial community resources at the ASU Chandler Innovation Center (ACIC). A tailored curriculum has been developed by CUSD and ASU Prep Digital, with students engaging in “Design Thinking" to solve real-world challenges and build problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. So far, 165 fifth grade students have participated in the program and the plan is for other grades to take part as well.

The innovative program was featured as part of the K-12 Innovation Alliance Summit held last month, which included a visit to ACIC where fifth grade students from Frye Elementary School showcased their work in STEM through Design Thinking. CUSD received the Innovative District Award as recognition of the district's work to reimagine educational experiences for students and forge strong community partnerships to create early intersections for college and career pathways.
