POWERED INDUSTRIAL TRUCK OPERATOR TRAINING
Hygieneering has recently completed several Powered Industrial Truck Operator Training courses in Illinois, Kansas, and Mississippi. Powered Industrial Truck violations (1910.178) is number 7 on OSHA’s Top 10 Safety Violations for the fiscal year 2022. Refresher training and evaluations were number 2 out of the top 5 cited.

Hygieneering’s training consists of a combination of formal instruction (e.g., lecture, discussion, interactive computer learning, video tape, written material), practical training (demonstrations performed by the trainer and practical exercises performed by the trainee), and evaluation of the operator's performance in the workplace.

All operator training and evaluations are conducted by Hygieneering personnel that are knowledgeable, trained, and experienced to train powered industrial truck operators and evaluate their competence.

Hygieneering certifies that each operator has been trained and evaluated as required. Hygieneering’s certification includes the name of the operator, the date of the training, the date of the evaluation, and the identity of the person(s) performing the training or evaluation for OSHA record-keeping purposes.

Project Spotlight
Asbestos/Lead Pre-Alteration Assessments, Project Design, Project Management/Air Monitoring for Asbestos/Lead Abatement in Government Buildings
Hygieneering just recently completed two government projects in the City of Chicago to support interior office renovations and fire pump replacements that involved both the disturbance of asbestos and lead-based paint. Being that both facilities remained occupied, the facility still needed to maintain normal day-to-day operations and access for staff, maintenance, and the public.

Hygieneering project tasks first involved the performance of a complete Asbestos/Lead Pre-Alteration Inspection to identify the scope of the required abatement. The results of the inspections led to the project design and contractor oversight during the required asbestos and lead abatement in both buildings.

Hygieneering provided daily project management and sampling during the abatement activities to ensure the project performance was conducted in strict compliance with IDPH, IEPA, OSHA, City of Chicago, and NESHAP regulations. These projects were completed on time, on budget with no recordable injuries.

Compliance Reminders
DOT Registrations: Due June 30th
As a reminder, all companies operating commercial motor vehicles that weigh more than 10,000 pounds are required to register with the Department of Transportation DOT by June 30th. Failure to register by this deadline can result in significant fines and penalties.

Registering with the DOT not only ensures compliance with federal regulations, but it also promotes safety on our nation's highways. By registering, your company is committing to maintaining safe vehicles, ensuring proper driver qualifications, and complying with hours-of-service regulations.

If you haven't already, take the necessary steps to register with the DOT before the June 30th deadline. Our team is available to assist with any questions or concerns you may have during this process.

Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Form R Reporting: Due July 1

The Toxic Release Inventory Form R Report is a document mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency EPA to monitor and regulate the release of toxic chemicals by industrial facilities. It requires companies to report their annual chemical releases, waste management, and pollution prevention activities. The information gathered in the Form R Report is used by the EPA to identify trends, assess risks to human health and the environment, and develop regulations to protect our communities.

Submitting an accurate and timely Form R Report is crucial for companies to avoid penalties and fines, maintain compliance with environmental regulations, and demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. It also serves as an opportunity for companies to assess their chemical use and waste management practices, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to reduce their environmental impact.

Hygieneering understands the importance of environmental compliance and the role that the Toxic Release Inventory Form R Report plays in achieving it. We offer comprehensive services to assist companies in preparing and submitting their Form R Report, ensuring that they meet all regulatory requirements and deadlines. Contact us today to learn more about how we can help your company stay compliant and sustainable.
