Thank You to Everyone Who Donated Food Last Month, and Please Keep the Summer Donations Coming!

Last month, in one day alone, the Holly Springs Food Cupboard served 95 families and handed out 89 student bags. In that one day alone, 184 boxes of cereal went out the door.

The reality of food insecurity is real and it's right here in our community.

Thank you to everyone who heard our plea and dropped off donations. Families and individual donations; neighborhood food drives in Arbor Creek, Morgan Park, Oak Hall, and others; lemonade stands donating proceeds; businesses; and others: thank you!

Thanks also to the many donors who participated in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive on the second Saturday in May. The Cupboard received about 2,200 pounds of food donations from the broader community and partnered with the Fuquay Varina Emergency Food Pantry and shared the donations; they received a similar amount.

Please keep the donations coming during the summer months. The need is real, and it truly takes a village.

Please consider putting together a food drive for some of our most critically needed items: canned meat, cereal, dry pasta, canned soup, spaghetti sauce, broth, sides (such as suddenly salad, rice a roni, instant potatoes, etc.), and canned tomatoes. As always, we are thankful for anything you can donate!

Many hardworking families in Holly Springs face difficult choices during summer when school meals are unavailable: pay bills or put food on the table?

You can help ease those choices by participating in our Hunger Doesn't Take a Vacation Food Drive this month:

We're on Target to Meet our Goal!

Our goal is to collect 25,000 pounds of food by July 4! As of Monday, May 29, we had collected 18,514 pounds. We're a month in, and we're well over a half of the way to our goal! That being said, last Thursday, we served 95 families - so the donations go quickly and are much needed. Please continue to spread the word and drop off those non-perishable donations through July 4 to help make it happen!

Thank you so much for considering helping local families facing food insecurity.

Healthy Eating

In addition to nonperishable goods, the Cupboard also focuses on providing fresh produce. While some produce is harvested from the Cupboard garden, other produce is purchased locally. Click here to donate funding and help provide healthy, fresh foods for clients.

Cupboard Garden Activity

As a part of the Cupboard's mission to provide supplemental food to our clients, we also offer them free vegetable transplants for their home gardens. We have handed out 258 transplants during the last 4 weeks - tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatillos, kale, and chard.

This cheerful group of members from the Holly Springs Church of Christ spent last Saturday morning potting up plants and starting seeds for our gardens!

Check out part of the 41-pound harvest of zucchini, lettuce, sugar snap peas, greens, turnips, and radishes, all fresh and pesticide-free for Cupboard clients! Our fresh produce, harvested several times each week, is not only delicious but also colorful and pesticide-free. Thanks to the many volunteers who help provide healthy, tasty produce for clients.
