COVID Update (all good news)
From the United State Embassy - Paris, France.
On March 13, France reclassified the United States as a "green" country under the French color-coded travel rules scheme. Under the new rules for travel to France:
- Fully vaccinated travelers: Must show proof of vaccination prior to boarding. No COVID test is required.
- Unvaccinated and other not-fully-vaccinated travelers: Must show a negative COVID test performed within 72 hours (if using a PCR test) or within 48 hours (if using an antigen test) of departure, but no longer need to show a compelling reason for travel or face random testing upon arrival.
- The French rules also state a positive COVID test more than 11 days old but less than six months old may be used in lieu of a negative test. However, it is not clear whether this test must have an EU-compatible QR code to be considered valid.
U.S. entry rules have not changed. As a reminder, the rules for travel to the United States remain:
-
All travelers, including U.S. citizens: Must have a negative COVID test (PCR or antigen) performed no early than the day prior to travel or proof of a positive test for COVID taken within the 90 days before travel along with a note from a doctor or public health official stating that the traveler is cleared to travel.
-
Non-U.S. citizens/Lawful Permanent Residents, including the spouses and children of U.S. citizens: Must also show that they are fully vaccinated under U.S. rules or meet one of the listed exceptions shown on the CDC website. The vaccination requirement does not apply to U.S. citizens, U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents, or people traveling on an immigrant visa.
On March 14, France suspended the use of the vaccine pass as well as most indoor mask requirements. Under the new rules:
- Access to restaurants, bars, museums, and the other locations where a pass was previously required no longer requires a vaccine pass or a health pass.
- Access to hospitals and nursing homes does require a health pass for non-emergency visits. As a reminder, for those not fully vaccinated, a temporary, 24-hour health pass can be obtained with a negative COVID test.
Also on March 14, France also lifted the mandatory indoor mask requirement. Masks may still be worn, and businesses can set their own mask requirements*.
*Masks will be required in all indoor spaces officially used by the camporee - specifically the Main Trading Post, the remote Trading Post, registration areas, etc.
Be sure to pack your masks.
