At Monumental, kids explore the sunbaked Southwestern desert as they dig into God’s great love

Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them

through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with a Canyon Closing that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned.

We are still collecting newspapers, white spray paint and YELLOW tissue paper.

All children (Pre-K thru 5th)

are welcome

WELCA Happenings

WELCA SPRING GATHERING

WELCA hosted a Gathering on April 12th. An interesting and informative program on Florida's native bees was presented by Lee Amos from the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast. We learned a lot and came home with a small jar of honey as a treat.

The election of new board officers was held. Dr. Marlyce Holbach is stepping down as board president. She was thanked, and presented with roses and a gift, for her four years of service.

New officers are:

Gail Authier, President

Marge Collin, Secretary

Nancy Bollers, Treasurer

WELCA Women's Mid-Gulf Meeting

WELCA hosted the Women's Mid-Gulf Spring Meeting at Emmanuel on Saturday, April 15. A continental breakfast was served, followed by a service and Bible study from Donna Batchelor and communion service with Pastor Darrington. A casserole luncheon was serviced in Fellowship Hall.

Judy Daniels was honored and gifted for her many years as WELCA secretary. Jan Quinn, chair, with Birdie Clark, Pam Becker, Kathie Winemiller, and Marlyce Holbach organized the event.

Barb's Medical Minute

Here's some health and beauty secrets:

  • DO drink carbonated water to feel fuller longer.
  • DON’T boil cauliflower because it causes up to 75% of the cancer-fighting compounds to leach into the water.
  • DO use seeded rye bread to ease constipation 41% faster than drugs.
  • DON’T wear round-bottom “rocker” shoes. The risks of injury are real, and they won’t give you beautifully sculpted legs either.
  • DO smell green apple, banana, or peppermint several times a day. People who did lost an average of 30 pounds in 6 months! Researchers think those scents may curb cravings.

So, is this the new diet….you only get to smell your food and not eat it? No wonder it works.

Please keep the following people in your prayers:

Elle Boehmer

Marion Boehmer

Faye Maxwell

Pat Norine

Prayers for the family and friends of Connie Uekert as they mourn the passing of her mother, Patricia Siedschlag.

Wedding Blessings to Linda Critchfield and Bob Bennekers who were married at Emmanuel Saturday. Linda is Emmanuel's bookkeeper.
