MacArthur Boulevard Construction Activities

Retaining Wall Concrete Pour

As crews continue constructing the new retaining wall along the southbound MacArthur Boulevard on-ramp, an overnight concrete pour is planned on Thursday, Oct. 3 from midnight to 5 a.m.

This work will require closing the southbound MacArthur Boulevard straight and loop on-ramps, as well as one outside lane on southbound SR-55 at MacArthur.

Extended Closure of Northbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard Off-Ramp

Crews will be pouring concrete on the northbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard

off-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the off-ramp. Once the off-ramp reopens, it will be temporarily restriped to include one left-turn and one right-turn lane at the MacArthur intersection. The single lane off-ramp for eastbound MacArthur will be permanently eliminated.

The off-ramp is expected to close as early as 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11 and reopen to motorists by 5 a.m., Monday, Oct. 21.

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

About the Project

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
