What is Eid ul Fitr


You shall complete the number [of days] and you may glorify God for his guiding you, and that you may be thankful. [Quran-2:185]


This verse refers to the completion of 29 or 30 days of fasting in the Islamic (Hijri) month of Ramadan and the festival day after, called Eid al Fitr. Eid al Fitr literally means, “festival of breaking of the fast.


The festival is a show of gratitude toward God for His blessings and pouring Mercy. You can learn more about how Muslims celebrate EID at the link above.

How to perform Eid prayer at home

For our neighbors and friends in the Chicagoland area, here are the prayer timing and locations at different masajid. Those in other areas, please check with your local organizations preparing such lists.
