It’s September and for many of our members that means North Texas Giving Day - month. I often feel grateful that the city I have adopted as home is also a great philanthropic incubator. Started in 2009 and executed by then Communities Foundation of Texas leadership, the idea of a regional, online-only individual giving program was novel. In the last fourteen years this “event” has raised more than $566 million impacting nonprofits in over 25 cause areas across 20 North Texas counties. And beyond the dollars, the awareness and engagement North Texas Giving Day provides to philanthropy is incredibly impactful. What an amazing community in which to live and work!
We are also fortunate to have Alex Dunn, Millionaire Grant Lady and Associates, for a virtual program, Grant Winning 101: Building a Winning Application from Research to Shark Tank Appeal. Because even with all the North Texas Giving Day preparation and buzz, those grant deadlines to not stop. We do hope the virtual option makes it easier to attend.
