Surprised By Vincentian Elements at the Coronation!
I never expected to hear St. Vincent dePaul speaking at the coronation of King Charles III! My ears perked up at the proclamation of what many refer to as the Vincentian Gospel (Luke 4:16). Vincentians the world over celebrate St Vincent’s feast with this Gospel. Jesus proclaims his mission in terms embracing the Old Testament, and echoes in our hearts today. Read his reflection HERE.

Fr. Tom McKenna, CM
Preparing for this Sunday, which is often called Good Shepherd Sunday, I came across a description of the things a shepherd in Jesus’ time would do to care for his — or her — sheep. Read Fr. Mc Kenna's reflection HERE.

Resolutions and the New Year
by Jim Claffey
NGO Representative of the CM to the UN

There are lots of resolutions at the United Nations. One historic resolution, achieved by the Vincentian Family NGOs and allies through persistent effort over four years, establishes homelessness as a stand-alone issue. Previously lumped in as one aspect of poverty, homelessness is now seen by the UN as its own issue, to be addressed as suchRead the article HERE.

A Very Vincentian Poem

O blessed poverty
By Clare of Assisi

O blessed poverty,
who bestows eternal riches on those
who love and embrace her!

O holy poverty,
to those who possess and desire you
God promises the kingdom of heaven
and offers, indeed, eternal glory and
blessed life!

O God-centered poverty,
whom the Lord Jesus Christ
Who ruled and now rules heaven and earth,
Who spoke and things were made,
condescended to embrace before all else!
