Our goal is to make sure it reflects the dynamism of our school and the benefits afforded by pursuing an all-girls education. With that in mind, we are proud to debut our revamped, user-friendly and easier to navigate website.

Varsity volleyball is moving on! Congrats to the team on its 3-0 semifinal victory over Averill Park, setting up its finals showdown versus number 1 seed Burnt Hills Saturday in Saratoga.

Congratulations are also in order for the Cross Country team for its 3rd place finish at the Colonial Council Championship! Next up: Sectionals in Queensbury Saturday.

Congratulations as well to the varsity swim team which has advanced to sectional finals Saturday at Shenendehowa High School. The 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay teams are both seeded 7th, and the 200 Freestyle Relay is seeded 8th. Ryleigh Hotaling, Casey Noll, Alexis Drislane, and Sofia Miron will each compete in individual events.



A reminder: winter sports (basketball, cheer, indoor track) start November 13. Sign-ups are available on myAHN.

The premier edition of EQV magazine came out recently. The stories highlight the many ways our current students and alumnae impact the world, especially in the fields of science and medicine. 

The title of the magazine is drawn from our school motto, Esse Quam Videri, to be, rather than to seem. Our focus as a school has always been to form young women of substance and character who contribute to building a better world through the use of their intellect and the skills, knowledge, and values they develop here. The pressures young people have as they form their identities, especially in the age of social media, make our mission critically important to their lives and the lives of the people they will touch.

These themes were iterated by Father Sean O'Brien, OFM at this Wednesday's All Saints Day Mass. 

Students Honor Faithfully Departed; Celebrate Halloween

On Wednesday we honored our saints, and Thursday we honored those we’ve lost as part of All Souls Day.

In a similar vein, students set up the traditional Mexican display for Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Students learned about culture and traditions from Mrs. Gibbons while Ms. Kosek's classes worked on the "ofrenda" (offerings).

Earlier in the week, the traditional Halloween parade was held through the gym as students, faculty, and staff showed off their creativity with this year's costume selections. Check out the video to see some of this year's best.

An emergency alert test notification will be sent Monday, November 6 at 5 p.m.

2.   Click “settings” under your profile photo.

3.   Click “notifications.”

4.   Update your notifications to add your phone number to receive texts. Select your provider to receive a text notification with a verification code. Once you enter that and your phone is verified, you’ll be able to opt-in to receive text alerts.

5.   Select “Text” next to “announcement” and “news posted”

6.   Lastly, next to “News Posted” click “Edit Options” and select “Snow Days/Closings/Emergency Alerts”

A captive audience for Mr. Allen. Here he’s demonstrating writing on Egyptian papyrus ala St. Paul when he wrote his letters. Each of the students was able to make outlines on papyrus bookmarks beginning with pencil, followed by dipping bamboo in ink, writing in Biblical Greek (Koine).

Congratulations to former Holy Names parent and Trustee Joan Lipscomb, who has been honored by the Interfaith Alliance of Upstate NY. Joan was recognized at the Albany Country Club for her many years of service to the Roman Catholic Diocese and her efforts to bridge understanding, friendship, and respect of all faiths.

In attendance to support and honor Joan was Kristin Vivian, Holy Names Director of Institutional Advancement, Ashley Arnold '98, Trustee Regina Lagatta '70, Joan, and her daughter Joan Arthurton '87.

Family Promise of the Capital Region paid tribute to the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM).

The organization honored the sisters for all they do for its mission and the community at its "Doors to the Future" celebration.

In attendance to receive the award were Sr. Karyl Fredricks, Sr. Marilyn Marx, Sr. Mary Francis Beck, Sr. Grace Diaz, and Sr. Beatrice Hall.

Attention AHN alumnae! Holy Names is offering a bus trip to NYC on Saturday, December 16.

• Bus departs AHN at 8:00 a.m. and drops off at Bryant Park around 11:00 a.m.
• Bus will depart NYC at 8:00 p.m., and return to AHN around 11:00 p.m.

You are free to spend the day as you wish, enjoying NYC at Christmastime!

Cost is $60 per person; non-AHN guests welcome to attend with an alumna. Registration will be open until November 17.

We are pleased to announce plans for a Spring 2024 trip to Spain for interested AHN high school students, grades nine through 12. We will be traveling to the cities of Madrid, Seville, and Costa Del Sol March 29 through April 5.

There is a limit of 20 students for this trip so please register early. Payment plans are available. Email Ms. Rento with any questions.
