Crime Stopping
City Launches Security Camera Program
The City of Chicago has launched a free and voluntary program to enlist the use of security cameras, maintained by private businesses, to aid in criminal investigations. You can register with the Chicago Police Department if your company has a security camera capturing the public way and are interested in assisting the police in the event a crime occurs in your neighborhood. The Police Department will not have direct access to your camera system, cannot access camera footage without your consent, and there is no requirement to provide footage at any time.
