The Chamber is focused on business. Business is what drives our economy. A thriving business community generates sales tax revenue. Sales tax revenue is one of the main sources of funds used to build roads and schools, fix potholes, enforce laws and much more.

Escondido is the 2nd highest generator of retail sales tax revenue in San Diego County. A vibrant local business community is vital to maintaining our level of services and provides the funding necessary for planned growth designed to make our community an even better place to live.

When you shop local you are directly contributing back to your community.

Enough said. Shop local - it makes a difference.

Over the last 2+ weeks the Chamber distributed over 30,000 KN95 masks for free. And this week the state has relaxed some of the mask’s mandates. Coincidence?

The Chamber met this week with our new County Supervisor Jim Desmond and members of his staff. We’re looking forward to more interaction and support of our business initiatives on the County level. We’re off on the right foot. Thank you, Jim, for coming by the Chamber and including us on your goodwill tour.

The local City Council Redistricting commission is close to finalizing a redraw of the city council’s five districts here in Escondido. Early renditions don’t show any major changes but, these are not finalized.

The Chamber is consistently asking for information on a plan that can be revealed by our City Council on the future of the North County Mall. This is easily one of the highest profile real estate holdings of the city. We understand there are ongoing behind-the-scenes negotiations underway and look for some news on the mall’s future in the near future.

As we begin to substantively move beyond the health restrictions brought onto businesses from the pandemic, we want to reinforce the importance of supporting local businesses whenever possible. And the Chamber is going to make this easier than ever.

More to come.

Cheers,
- JR

Taking Pride In Escondido by Kay Bates
As a minority business owner in the quaint city of Escondido, I take great pride in everything our community has to offer. Escondido is home to a variety of small businesses and the business owners reflect the diversity of its constituents. There are many minority-owned businesses whose owners come from all walks of life, and this is something the community takes great pride in. We are determined to make Escondido home for all ethnic groups.

I get excited about......
