St. Louis Catholic School Newsletter

May 4, 2023

Dear St. Louis Families,

Our week began with the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, who was a carpenter, the spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the foster-father of Jesus. Through his work of manual labor, St. Joseph provided for the Holy Family, and shared in the divine plan of salvation. Yesterday, we honored Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth. Our 8th graders participated in the crowning of the Blessed Mother in Church and then afterwards in our small grotto outside of the main school doors---with a small prayer and a special Marian song, the students celebrated Mary---you may notice her crown of baby’s breath at morning drop off or afternoon pickup. The crowning of Mary is a long-standing Catholic tradition. We do this in the month of May because it has been set aside to honor Mary as the mother of Christ—Mary is the most important woman in our Catholic faith. She holds a special place with her Son and can intercede for us as shown in scripture. This is why we often say “to Jesus through Mary.”

A special thank you to all who participated in our first BINGO family night. It was a huge success and a great way to spend a Friday night. We are grateful to Mrs. Parmiter and her committee as well as the PTO board for making this possible. We hope to be able to continue this new community fellowship opportunity next year.

The spring assessment window is open through May 19th. Students in grades 3-7 will be taking online adaptive assessments in math, language arts, and reading. K-2 students will be assessed in phonemic awareness and literacy skills as well as reading and math. Results will be shared with final report cards.

Peace and Blessings,

Anne Dyke

Principal
