Celebrating Crosstown Community!
What a gift it was to share a meal and conversation this past Sunday (October 29) at the Congregational Meal! Thanks to all our wonderful chefs and bakers, and to those who helped set up and tear down! A big thanks to the Community Caring Commission for helping bring this meal together for our Crosstown family. One Crosstown friend was heard telling her husband, “honey, this is what we needed! A good church potluck!”
At the meeting, we heard about an update to our organizational structure. We are seeking to transition from our current system to a “Leadership Team” model. If you are interested in the specifics of these amendments to our constitution & by-laws, you can request electronic copies from Pastor John (pastorjohn@crosstowncovenant.org). If you have questions, you are invited to speak with Mark Ogawa (Church Chair) or Pastor John. We will be voting on the amendment proposal at our Annual Meeting on January 28, 2024.

Mission Partners Jochy y Tammi in the DR
|
During the month of October, we received a personal update–by video–from our dear friends who serve Jesus in the Dominican Republic. The Hernandez family (Jochy, Tammi, + kids) are planting a new congregation, “Tal Como Soy” (Just as I Am). They report great progress in this ministry and noted that their worship gatherings are now “Standing Room Only.”
Check out this greeting from them at the 22:08 mark of Crosstown’s worship on October 22:

Fall Message Series
On Sunday, October 1 we moved into a fresh sermon series: “Rooted in Christ.” This journey is grounded in Psalm 1 when it describes the life of those who love God. “They are like a tree planted by streams of water.” As we sink our roots into the “soil” of Jesus, we find nourishment for our lives through the development of a root structure. The “roots” we’re examining include: prayer, worship, justice, service, generosity, community, and creation care. If you miss a week, be sure to catch-up by going to our youtube channel:)!
