NAR Member & Federal Policies Discussed at Legislative Meetings

Last week was an eventful one at the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Legislative Meetings in Washington DC. Below is some of the biggest news from the NAR Board of Director's meeting:

• Members will be required to complete two hours of Fair Housing training every three years starting in 2025 as a condition of membership

• NAR will support policies, regulations and programs that enhance assumable mortgage products for federally insured loan programs (FHA, VA, USDA)

FHFA Cancels Loan Level Pricing Adjustment Fee Increase

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) rescinded its proposed loan level pricing adjustment (LLPA) upfront fee on borrowers with debt-to-income ratios greater than 40 percent.

The fee originally to go into effect on August 1st was unpopular with REALTORS® and had significant pushback from NAR. Read the full story here.

Election time amplifies the importance of ensuring candidates that support REALTORS®, private property rights, and homeownership are elected to office.

What's the best way for you to get involved? Invest in the REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC). RPAC assists in the election of candidates that support the aforementioned issues.

Key Facts About RPAC:

• RPAC contributions are monetary contributions to a specific candidate’s campaign
• The candidate can be aware of spending and support
• RPAC contributions are voluntary and come from members of the REALTOR® association

Want to Better Understand Appraisal Bias? Start with this Open Hearing

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is hosting the Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC) for a public hearing on appraisal bias.

Open to the public, the hearing will explore appraisal standards, qualification criteria, barriers to entry into the profession, and appraisal practice and State regulation.

You can attend the live hearing virtually on May 19th from 10 am - 1 pm. Advanced registration is required.
