One sweet connection was made between Heather and Nancy. These Buddies became good friends during the pandemic. Heather shared an experience Nancy had. Nancy was in favor of moving out of her house as she knew it was time, but when she moved into the new place, she was shy. (I don't think she is truly shy, I just think that the isolation had really affected her.) I encouraged her to get out and at least try to meet people (e.g. eat dinner in the dining hall rather than in your room and go to some of the activities). It was a little tough at first, but then one day she told me that she listened to me and went to the New Year's Eve Party. After the ball dropped, she picked up the balloons (because she says, "I was the only one who could still pick them up off the floor") and playfully threw them at people, and everyone thought she was the life of the party! She sounded like a teen who was giggling and beaming about a successful prom. It made my heart so happy!" Now, they look forward to getting out and getting ice cream together.
