Sunday, May 28 , 9 to noon at Harborside Trading Co. in Sunapee Harbor
Artist Spotlight - Dianne Jarvis, local artist
Artist will be demonstrating how to make sea glass and stone artwork. Dianne lives in Sunapee and works as a full-time nurse. Mother to three grown children left her with a lot of time on her hands. During Covid, Dianne wanted a change from her hobby of oil painting. Having collected sea glass found in Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, Hawaii, and Aruba, she began putting the pieces together in frames. Her friends bought her art, then giving over their collections of sea glass! When glass ran low, Dianne started tumbling her own glass and pottery. Now she has added unique stones to her designs. You can find Dianne on Facebook and Instagram under Inspirations by Dianne, LLC.

In Flanders Fields
BY JOHN MCCRAE
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

On this Memorial Day, John F. Kennedy’s quote is most apropos:
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them”.
